Due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the rise of immigrants in Canada, the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a press conference stated that from February 22, international air travellers to Canada must take a COVID-19 test upon arrival and await the results of this test in a government-approved facility/hotel for up to three days.
The hotels are situated in the four Canadian cities that are currently accepting international air travel at this time: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal. More locations will be finalized in the coming days, according to the government webpage. It was also stated that air travellers must also take a quarantine test once they arrive at the airport. The estimated cost to travellers who must quarantine in a hotel is $2,000. Hotel staff are required to transport travellers from the airport to their destination, provide meals, and allow access to internet, TV and radio.
